NL HOME SALES SLOWED BUT STEADY JAN 2023

252 homes sold in the province Jan 2023 declining 31% from Jan 2022 and as a result the dollar value was down by 28% ($70.7 million).

St. John’s marked a sharp decrease of 40.4% (vs Jan 2022).

Keep in mind it’s all relative – NL home sales remain strong 15.5% above the 10-yr avg for the month of Jan. just down vs 2021/2 record sales.

Market value and pricing is also robust. The benchmark price for single-family homes in St. John’s was $326,700, rising 5.6% on a year-over-year basis in Jan.

Active listings haven’t been this low in the month of Jan in 15 years, 42.5% below the 10-yr avg for the month of Jan.
